Bethany “bee” Ramsey

OWNER

Bethany Ramsey, a Dayton native, who went natural over a decade ago. While she enjoyed the years embracing her hair and learning about ingredients, she always missed beauty salons as a place for community. She always imagined a space focused on natural hair that would encourage a similar connection. After starting just the boutique, customers quickly encouraged her to add a salon. With lots of support from her family and friends, securing a grant, assembling an amazing team, finding the perfect space in the Oregon District and renovating that space…Puff Apothecary is now a natural hair boutique AND salon that offers products AND hair styling services for natural hair with an emphasis on good vibes and community. She enjoys writing for Puff Post, reading history books, making Dayton a place for community, and going on adventures with her family.

SALON COORDINATOR
Asha Parson received her cosmetology license in 2012 graduating from Upper Valley CTC in Piqua. As the oldest of five she developed a passion for doing hair when she started helping her mother with her sibling’s hair. Asha found her lane in natural hair after doing the big chop herself. Asha is excited about joining the Puff team where she can continue to grow as a stylist while helping others see the beauty in their natural hair.

Kia Barbour started at Puff Apothecary as an apprentice under Puff’s apprentice program in April of 2022. Prior to beginning her apprenticeship she had 4 years of natural hair experience. Kia began her work with natural hair by loc-ing and re-twisting hair and she is excited to expand her natural hair expertise with loc’d and loose hair. Coming from a multi-racial family, not many of her family members had experience with her hair texture. This really sparked her interest in natural hair of all textures. Kia is excited to be apart of Puff’s team and she cannot wait to build her clientele!

Mari Kelly started at Puff Apothecary as an apprentice under Puff’s apprenticeship program. Mari is excited to be apart of Puff’s team and she cannot wait to build her clientele!

jasmine Adkins

MARKETING INTERN

Jasmine Adkins is a senior at Bowling Green State University. She is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication Technology. Jasmine is enthusiastic; to expand her knowledge in the field of marketing and combine her love of natural hair with her skills in photography, videography, web design, and article writing. She is also excited to get some natural hairstyle inspiration of her own from all of the cute hairstyles she sees at the salon. After graduation, Jasmine plans to pursue a career in the field of Public Relations with hopes of opening a Public Relations Firm of her own in the future.
