3 Things Missandei Uses On Her Hair
I know there's a lot going on in Game of Thrones but all I'm wondering is what does Missandei use on her hair!? It probably helps that she is riding with the mother of dragons and has endless wealth at her disposal but that doesn't mean some creativity was not needed. So like the true dork that I am, I did some investigating to figure out what she could possibly be using on her hair as the character.
Back in ancient times, it was all about location, location, location. Based on the geography and the fact that it is in a bay, Bay of Dragons (aka Slaver's Bay), could be compared to ancient Greece. Others say ancient Egypt based on the fact that they have pyramids. Regardless, this is a location that has access to importing and actually has an extensive irrigation system so there would be quite a bit available especially when you're hanging with a queen. However, we aren't dealing with the most modern of times so no formulated leave-in conditioners and stylers would be available. So that leaves single based ingredients and some ingenuity.
So without further ado, here are 3 things Missandei is using on her hair:
Milk & Honey
Milk and honey was a popular combination for face and hair washing and it would only make sense Missandei would use this to clean and condition her hair.
How to use in modern times?
Try mixing equal parts coconut milk and honey and apply on hair like a deep conditioner. Allow the mixture to sit on damp hair covered with a plastic cap for 20 minutes. I recommend coconut milk to avoid any chance of spoiled dairy smell. Soultanicals has a shampoo bar called "Honey I Shrunk The Frizz" which is made with honey and is a fantastic modern day option.
Olive Oil
When Missandei is getting her glow on and you see that shine in her hair you know she's using olive oil. Olive oil is still a staple in many natural hair routines today.
How to use in modern times
Some people add it to their favorite conditioner to give it more slip and add shine to their hair. Others, simply apply it to damp hair and allow it to air dry, leaving the hair with a oily sparkle. Brown Butter Beauty is one of our favorite small batch makers and makes a wonderful hair oil mix that features olive oil prominently.
Henna
The reddish tint to Missandei's hair could be her own but she might be achieving the look with a little help from henna, yes, the very same kind used for the beautiful tattoos. Henna is an amazing, natural hair dye that can actually help strengthen hair.
How to use in modern times
Henna Sooq offers a variety of henna to help naturals dye their hair red, black, brown and even blonde. It depends on the color and darkness of your hair how it will look but a red henna is sure to give you a halo of red hair similar to Missandei. We carry henna and items from Henna Sooq.
Have you used any of these ingredients on your hair?
